SEO FAQ: Viewing The Source

Viewing the HTML source of any web page is a helpful tool for not only search engine optimization, but also web design and development. Know of a popular website that is in the same niche as your own? Simply view the source of their website to see how they've implemented their coded SEO (Page Title and Meta Tags). It also helps to quickly see what you've done for the meta data on specific pages of your website if you've forgotten.

Once you are on your website (or any website), simply right-click somewhere on the page and select "View Page Source". The option may have a slightly different name depending on the browser you are using.

This is by far the greatest little trick I have learned. Now, I can take a look at what my competitors are using for their keywords, Page Titles, etc.

Thanks for taking the time to write this wonderful guide. I know that this is going to improve and make my website work better for my company.

It's the oldest and simplest trick in the book. However, I'm constantly surprised by how many people either don't know about it or just don't use it. I'm glad you've found a use for it!

Thanks for the comments!
