SEO FAQ: HTML

You don't have to know HTML in order to implement SEO on your website. Chances are you have access to a content management system (website editor) that allows you to add and edit content on your own website. Most of the time these content management systems will have special areas to implement your SEO. They will have areas to edit your page title, meta keywords and meta description, etc. Don't get nervous - optimizing has infinitely more to do with understanding concepts and tactics than it does learning any kind of computer or web language.

Ask questions about SEO HTML issues here. How much HTML you need to know, where to use it, and how.

Thanks for creating this great ebook. I am learning so much.
I just want to clarify one item so I do not mess up my website. When changing some of this HTML, such as the title: Your Page Title | City, ST
All I need to do is replace: Floyd’s Painting | Elk Grove, CA?
Thanks again for this great guide.

Sure, if that's what you want your Page Title to be. I have a whole section on Page Titles in the guide as well as a bit here in the FAQs - check the green menu to the right.

If you're a local company that relies on local customers, I would put in your location, so it looks like you're good to go there. Just make sure you read all of the guide so you understand how to optimize everything on a whole!

Thanks for the question and compliment!
