SEO FAQ: Domain Age

The older your domain (www.yoursite.com), the more “weight” search engines tend to give your website. Of course, this is just one of many factors that search engines look at, but it is important enough to note. If you can possibly buy a pre-owned and / or aged domain for a new website, do it. It'll help your website get on the fast track to success.

Well, my Domain name is new; however is there anything that I can do that would help?

I am new to this SEO concept.

Hi Elayne,

Domain Age is definitely a factor, but it's really not THAT important. Yes, it would be great if you could secure an older domain, but it's up to you to decide. You could always buy an older domain and have it forward to your new one, or the other way around. Just make sure whatever domain you forward is using a 301 redirect!

Thanks, and good luck!
